Port Owen nestles between Velddrif on the Berg River, and the little seaside fishing village of Laaiplek at the mouth of the Berg River. Spring has Sprung and many bird species have chicks at the moment. This afternoon I was lucky enough to see this little family of Spotted Thick Knees - a pair of adults with 2 tiny, fluffy, little chicks. When I approached the chicks ran to their mother and pushed into her breast feathers, and she then settled down over them
Beautiful wild flowers and beautiful wild seas at the WestCoast National Park yesterday.
Wonderful day out at the West Coast National Park yesterday. Wild flowers were beautiful, and of course as usual there were dozens of tortoises to be seen. We even had the priviledge of watching a Black Headed Heron trying to swallow a large rodent
